Open Cellars of Nillumbik
19th and 20th October 2013
11am until 5pm



Come and join us over two days as we celebrate and share the wine of the region.  

The Open Cellars event is a two day showcase of wine in which a number of boutique wineries wil be opeing their doors to the public.  The weekend will include free wine tastings, food, art exhibitions and live entertainment.   

Travel time is just 40 minutes from the centre of Melbourne.  Come on out and meet the winemakers and find out what makes our wines so special.

"On the Hill Festival" in Panton Hill

The ‘On the Hill’ Festival in Panton Hill is a popular day out for the whole family. 

Well known for its fabulous program of music, this year’s ‘Music in the Park’ includes local musicians – Black Cat Bone, the Leslie Avril Band and the not to be missed duo - Greg Champion and Gary Carruthers. 

There will be fabulous roving entertainers, wandering minstrels and a mix of international food to tempt your taste buds. With thanks to our major sponsors, Nillumbik Shire Council and Bendigo Bank, there will be FREE face painting, horse and cart rides, and other fun activities for the kids. 

The festival starts at 11am and finishes at 6pm.  If you come every year, you’ll know what a great day ‘On the Hill’ is, and if it’s new to you – come and enjoy!

Practically Green Festival

The Practically Green Festival offers practical and simple ideas to help you and your family live sustainably.    The Festival showcases the very best in sustainable building technologies– all in a fun festival-style, family atmosphere. Come and enjoy the food, free children's entertainment, and loads of other entertainment.   

The free Festival appeals to all audiences – from the die-hard builder and renovators and those looking to improve the comfort of their home to those who are simply visiting for the vibrancy and fun of the Festival.

The Festival offers something for everyone:

Children’s activities and entertainment
Workshop program
Edendale nursery and gardens
Local food and wine
Market stalls
Practically Green Sustainability Awards presentations
Not-for-profit and community groups
Community art project.

The Festival is held at the Council’s community environment farm Edendale, Gastons Road, Eltham. Edendale offers a range of environmental information and educational programs on topics such as biodiversity, waste management, air quality and water conservation. The Edendale grounds – spread over seven acres – feature community education buildings, animal pastures, an old homestead (circa 1896); an Indigenous Plant Nursery, gardens and open space

As the Festival is all about sustainability, we encourage you to travel there sustainably too! Edendale Farm is conveniently located on the Diamond Creek Trail and is just a short walk from Eltham train station.

Think about jumping on your bike, catching the shuttle bus from Eltham station or popping your walking shoes on – and come and experience the Practically Green Festival!

Hurstbridge Farmers Market
Sunday 6th October

Come and support local stall holders and enjoy the rural atmostphere of Hurstbridge.  

This friendly and relaxed market has a range of stallholders from Nillumbik and surrounding regions selling free range meats (including pork, beef and buffalo), fresh seasonal fruit & vegetables, olives & extra virgin olive oil, honey, eggs, cheeses, bread, wine, gluten-free products and a range of specialty produce.

Entry is $2 and all proceeds go to the CFA, the Market’s community partner.

Eltham Community Craft and Produce Market

'The Eltham Community Craft & Produce Market is a place where locals and visitors alike come to enjoy a community atmosphere in a delightful setting under the gum trees.

Diamond Valley Miniature Railway

The Diamond Valley Miniature Railway runs every Sunday throughout the year as well as Wednesdays during School Holidays.  Enjoy a great day out as you ride the popular miniature trains through tunnels and native bushland at Eltham Lower Park, Eltham.
